Bible verses for discouragement

Discouragement can hit hard. Whether it comes from grief, stress, disappointment, unanswered prayers, or simply the weight of everyday life, it can leave you feeling drained and uncertain.

That is why memorizing Scripture can be so powerful. God’s Word helps lift your eyes above your circumstances and reminds you of what is still true even when your emotions feel unsteady. These verses speak of God’s presence, His strength, His peace, and the hope we can hold onto when life feels heavy.

If you are walking through a discouraging season, let these Bible verses steady your heart and renew your confidence in the Lord.

1. Isaiah 41:10 – God Is With You

God reminds you that you are never alone, even in your discouragement. He is there to strengthen you and to help you.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

2. Joshua 1:9 – Be Strong

This verse calls you to stand firm even when you feel weak, for it is in our weakness that his strength is made perfect in us.

3. Galatians 6:9 – Do Not Give Up

When you’re tired of trying, this verse reminds you to keep going. The harvest is just around the corner!

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Even in hardship, you are not defeated.

God promises strength when you feel exhausted.

8. Romans 8:31 – God Is For You

This verse shifts your perspective in hard moments. When it feels like the whole world is against you, it’s good to remember the One who is always for you.

9. Philippians 4:6-7 – Peace

God offers peace in exchange for your worry.

10. Matthew 11:28 – Come to Jesus

Jesus invites you to bring your burdens to Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light, remember?

God’s love remains constant no matter what.

19. Deuteronomy 31:8 – God Goes Before You

God is already ahead of you in what you’re facing.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
